Acorn Squash

Nana's family has a garden.  You can do that when you're living in the country.

Watermelons and tomatoes just taste better when they sunbathe until they are ripe. It's practically decadent.

This weekend, Nana gifted us with five home-grown acorn squashes. She prefers hers baked with slices of bacon. Grandpa adds brown sugar. Simplicity is key for me: pinch of salt and pepper and a pat of butter.

No matter which way you lean, savory or sweet, acorn squashes are in season.  Mmmm...
